Visitors

Friends from east coast come for a visit.  Their flight arrived late Wednesday  night, after light dinner at midnight, we spend next couple hours catching up with each other life. Inna from FL, Serge from NC, both in education so we had a lot in common.
It's about 24 hours later, got about 5-6 hours of sleep. Had a wonderful visit. Both Lena and I took a day off and played tourists in our own town.
Serge is a father of 4, widower since November.  He's hurting, and little in denial for his own need. He lost lot of weight since the last time we saw him (October). He doesn't sleep at night and working at the wee hours everyday. It's breaks my heart a little seeing him like this.

Oregon Humane Society

Elsa and I went to Oregon Humane Society, we sign up for couple hours of volunteering and end up having so much fun.  Needless to say I was little nervous and apprehensive prior.  I really like dog, generally enjoy them.  But not so much cats.  I did grow up with both as a kid, but for last 15 years only pets we had it was fishes and birds.

Upon arrival we were greeted by OHS employee who gave us a tour of the facility, introduce us to the history of organization and shared some of the tips how to behave about the animals.

There were 5 matches, plus 2 representatives from BBBS.  After going over the rules we went around kennels, met some beautiful dogs and cats, and got to meet/play with some of them.  Our dog was 6 years old mix terrier with saddest brown eyes, that just melt your heart.  His name is Rhett (like Rhett Butler in the "Gone with the Wind") and he was perfect gentleman.  Didn't jump, didn't run, behaved the entire time and all he wants is someone to pet him, hug him and snuggle next to him.

Our association with cats wasn't so eventful.  There were Hugo - the black cat, very vicious and Salami, huge orange/white ball of fur who were so lazy to move around.

Cascade Club

Today Lena and I sign up for Cascade Athletic Club membership. $62.00 a month OUCH!!! that way more that I want to spend on gym membership.  However, after looking into bootcamp class that we were taking last year for $275  for 5 weeks, after little math it's about the same.
And the icing on the cake was that Cascade is about 10 min away from home and has classes at 5:30am 4 days a week with Power Ride and Power Build twice a week each.

Yay! looking forward to our first class on Monday.

Mid-week Post

I think it might become a tradition to have a regular Wednesday post.  I felt that as soon as Sunday rolled away, next thing I notice it's Wednesday.  Monday and Tuesday tends to be a blur.
This week is the same, Monday arrived with slight chance of freezing rain, temperature was below freezing level, but it did start raining around 7 am, and slightly warmed up. Our family has outrageous sense of responsibility, Alex and Vlad both left for work at the crack of dawn.
I end up waiting for the definite confirmation that yes, indeed it's warmer and everything is melting away.  I left house around 8:15 and it was little scary before I get to freeway.
Work wasn't bad, as we had many cancellations and much of work was done last week.
Tuesday went smoothly with little hiccups (if there were some I don't remember) - Dad arrived from CA safe and sound, that made our house happy :)
Here we are... with so much uncertainty again. Last night I got text from Shelly telling me that she's not coming to work today, asking to cover for her in surgery room.  When questioned if she's ok, in response I got, something like I have personal issues with husband, i'm safe and ok... weird!
Dr. A doesn't think she's okay... I wonder if her husband did found out about her been unfaithful.
It was very weird day - Dr. A did share some ideas about practice and future and stuff... Dani had a bad day to start with, but it's slightly improved toward the end.
Tomorrow I'm in surgery all day, hopefully things will go okay for everyone involved.  I tired of talking about work in negative way.

Friday

Morning arrived with such a quietness outside. Wind stopped sometimes at night, snow also stopped around 3 in the morning. No sound of traffic, nothingness and cold.

I send a text message to my office manager letting her know that I'm not coming to work. It's too dangerous to drive. Her response was - we're closing clinic down due to the weather. 

Opening ceremony was scheduled at 8am our time - and our miracle worker Alex - after a while finally find some live stream from Sochi.

I was very impressed with the opening ceremony, regardless what other people say.  Knowing the history and culture I believe it was beautifully done.

And the simple fact that they didn't talk about "dark" time in the history didn't bother me at all.  Olympic games is time for celebration, not for bringing ugliness up to the table.

After the ceremony, I went out and played with kids. here's some pictures.

Hump Day

One of the Geico commercials has a camel walking in the cubicle maze of office with a 'guess what day it is?'

Today is a hump day, boy how I'm happy to get over the hump hill.

One of my coworkers due to death in the family out the office. Angie is receptionist and guess who end up covering for her? Of course me, myself and I.

Monday was a blur, very busy, very maddening and very tiring. I start at 5:45am and left at 5pm. 

Tuesday also was early start with lot work upfront.  Shelly worked on Tuesday with about 70% participation - she spends so much time on her phone. Every time I turn around she's texting someone. Knowing what I know about her been unfaithful to her husband I can only guess who she was talking to. Toward the end I got so feed up with that, I'm not helping her at all today. After I arrived to work this morning, I start with doing my work, offered to cover lunch only when it's convenient for me. I had so much done. I'm really proud of myself.

Last night I met with Yulia, went over tons of things in quickbook, I had my work cut for me next weekend.
Tonight is Elsa time, I haven't seen her for two weeks, and quite frankly miss her face.

Baby shower

My cousin is expecting. 

Baby boy due February 20th and we had a surprise baby shower for her.
